There is a different way to experience the coast near Amelia Island. Instead of looking at the
beach from a boardwalk or driving past it, you can ride directly along it on a fat tire eBike. Coast
eBike Adventures takes riders into the Talbot Islands for a self guided outdoor adventure
through one of the wildest stretches of coastline in Northeast Florida.
The wide, uncrowded State Park beach is what people remember first. But the real difference is
what happens before you ever reach the sand: one adventure takes you through three
completely different ecosystems – maritime forest, salt marsh, and open beach.
An open beach made for riding
The beach is not a quick stop at the end of the day. It is part of the ride. Our fat tire eBikes are
made for the changing terrain, and our start times follow low tide, when the sand is firmer and
there is more beach to explore. Nature sets the schedule.
Once you reach the shoreline, there is room to settle into your own pace. Ride beside the
water, stop for photographs, look for shorebirds, or simply take in the feeling of being
somewhere quieter and more open than a typical beach day.

Dune Ridge Trail and the big reveal
Before the beach, there is Dune Ridge Trail: a roughly two mile wild, off road trail that adds a real sense of adventure to the ride. It is a beginner trail, but it is close to intermediate in places, so riders should be comfortable handling a regular bike and ready for a little more uneven terrain.

Then comes the payoff. Dune Ridge Trail brings you out at the northern tip of Little Talbot Island, where the trees and dunes suddenly give way to open beach. At low tide, it can feel completely empty – miles of undeveloped sand, the ocean on one side, and a beautiful view back toward Amelia Island across the water. It is one of those moments that makes the whole ride a ten out of ten.
Three ecosystems in one ride
The beach ride gets the attention, but the full experience is bigger than the beach. The route moves through three very different coastal environments, each with its own feel.
Maritime forest: Shaded trails and live oaks create a calm, almost hidden start to the adventure. It is a side of the coast many visitors never see.

Salt marsh: The landscape opens up, with water, grasses, birds, and broad views of the barrier islands. This is the transition between the forest and the beach.
Open beach: Then the trail gives way to the coast itself – a wide State Park beach, salt air, open sky, and a completely different kind of ride.
Self guided does not mean left to figure it out
We trailer the bikes out to the Talbot Islands, get everything set up, and make sure you are comfortable before you head out. You will have a route, a cargo basket, and a small cooler with water and a snack. Then the adventure is yours to enjoy at your own pace.
This is not a walk in rental shop and it is not a guided group ride. It is a self guided barrier island experience for people who want the freedom to explore without having to organize all the details themselves.
